Dial Down Anxiety with Meditation

Dial down anxiety

Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.” – Kahlil Gibran

The short answer is “yes.” Meditation has been shown to reduce anxiety and elevate your mood, and the science proves it.

There is a crucial element that will prove the science right or wrong for YOU, though, and that’s YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH TIME (and how you prioritize your time).

Knowing that meditation can ease your anxiety isn’t enough–you must make the time to DO meditation each week. (Think of meditation as a VERB, not just a nice concept you might try sometime.  This is why we call it a practice.)  We have offered tips to relieve anxiety in this past article.

It doesn’t take much time–10 minutes is a great start, and if you meditate this long even once or twice per week, you’ll begin to see results. You may notice your sleep improves, or that you can focus on projects for longer, or even that you feel more confident about your decisions or body.  This 10 minute meditation to reduce anxiety and stress is a great place to start.

Listen, new habits take PRACTICE AND SUPPORT to stick and stay past the novelty of trying something new. That’s why committing yourself and those 10-minute chunks of time MAKE ALL THE DIFFERENCE.

At The Mindful Movement, we help you RE-WIRE YOUR TIME RELATIONSHIP so that you can begin putting your practice (and yourself!) first, without guilt or procrastination.  Understanding why you practice helps keep your motivation and commitment.

When you work with us, you begin to understand that your peace and calm are non-negotiables. Simply search the term anxiety on our site to fine an enormous amount of resources including other articles, meditation practices, and movement sessions specifically designed to relieve anxiety.

Your easeful foundation and sense of presence are the very BEDROCKS of the success, relaxation, and self-assurance that may always feel just a few heart-breaking inches out of reach.
