“You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one.”
―
Humans need connection. We are tribal beings in our true nature. We are all the same in this way. Now, more than ever, it is so important to do what we can to foster connections and support one and other. Whether you are a student looking for connections with your classmates, someone going to yoga class craving the energy of your fellow yogis, or you are practicing meditation knowing others around the world are sitting down "with" you, connections are available to you. Support is available to you. Help is available to you. Like John Lennon said, "I hope someday you'll join us. And the world will live as one." We strive to support and connect with the community at the Mindful Movement and we hope you'll join us.
Namaste: This word translates to mean, “I recognize the Divinity in you which is also the Divinity in me.” Or, “I honor the place in you where the entire universe dwells.” So, I offer this greeting to you today. Namaste, my soul honors your soul. I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides. I honor the light, the love, the beauty and the peace within you because it is also within me. In honoring these qualities within each other, we are one and the same. We are united.
“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”

Along the lines of connection, I'd like to share this poem. Although, like me, you may not know what it's like to sing in an 8-part choir, the underlying feeling of the need for connection is universal. To me, this poem speaks to the need for human connection that perhaps we are all feeling, maybe without knowing how to "bridge the oceans between us."
I invite you to "be a leader, and conduct every lost soul together into a state of connection." How will you make a connection today?
Excerpt from a poem called “choir room”
by: Mollie Raymond
and if i had known that
i would hear a 6-part choir singing in the
soundtrack for a cartoon i randomly stumbled upon
months later, and that it would make me
almost cry, realize how long it’s been since
i sat in that glorious, loving choir room,
glowing with the light of music and community,
i would have enjoyed it more,
although actually i don’t think i physically
could have enjoyed it
any more, but i don’t know maybe
i would have held on to it tighter, done more
to keep it from leaving me, my clinging arms,
but i know i couldn’t have changed it.
and now my heart emptying the whole arsenal
of defense mechanisms, building fortresses
around itself, injecting syringes of tranquilizer
into my bloodstream, all to avoid this
loneliness, fractured, wondering if i will ever again
feel the way it feels to sing in harmony,
wondering if it’s even possible for me to
feel connected to other humans if not through music,
because lately i’ve been speaking
and it’s all mundane, i’ve been looking into
people’s eyes and seeing nothing but
reflection of my own failings
and the miles and miles of
separation and misunderstanding between us,
i’ve been listening to people’s
words and hearing only their
funeral dirges, premonition of death
blaring in my ears like a foghorn,
drowning out whatever they were trying to
say. i can wrap my head around all
humanity being one and the same,
but connected? are you sure? we’re all
standing on our little islands alone, all
with the same longings and problems
but no way to bridge the oceans between us,
no way to know just how
not alone we all may be. all singing in our own
discordant keys, we all long for
perfect harmony and none of us is willing to
stand up, be a leader, and conduct every
lost soul together into a state of connection.
if i had never known the bliss of
walking out of a rehearsal that ran late
seeing the moon wink at me over the
parking lot, heart still resonating with
paper and song and teamwork, maybe it wouldn’t
be such a let down to be singing this
solo, this dirge
for dearly departed
joy, my musical home.
