If you’re here, it’s likely because you’re a seeker. You want more, better, or different for your life. Especially if you’re struggling with a challenging condition or two, like:
- Addiction or addictive behaviors (like binge eating, pornography, drugs, alcohol, shopping, etc.)
- Perfectionism
- Codependency (which is really thinking about, talking about, or caretaking others at your own expense)
- Toxic relationships (always attracting the same type of challenging people into your life)
But when you try to change these patterns on your own, nothing seems to work, no matter how much you want a different experience.
Here’s a gentle idea to consider: You have everything you need inside you to create a different experience.
More willpower isn’t what you need.
Knowledge, understanding, and support are.
Here’s how the behavior change process works:
- Your inner beliefs drive your behavior. Until you can change your beliefs, your behavior will not change long term.
- Your behavior-driving beliefs come from earlier in your life—usually in childhood, teenage years, or young adulthood.
- There is an uncomfortable (or even terrifying) body reaction when an old wound or belief gets activated. (It’s your fight-flight-freeze response.) When you can recognize when that body reaction happens and why, it opens up a choice for a different behavior.
- There is a practice period for any new behaviors you adopt to feel as effective in the current situation as the old coping skill did in the past.
This recovery process accelerates with my help…and hypnotherapy is one super-effective way to help yourself:
- stop the thing you want to stop,
- discover the thing you want to do instead, and
- practice the new beliefs and behaviors over and over until they become part of who you are.
