We are all governed by our Inner Messaging. These voices whisper to us:
“It’s not okay to have fun.”
“I’m a loser if I fail.”
“I have to be the best one in every room.”
“Winning is mandatory, otherwise there will be hell to pay later.”
“If I rest, someone will get hurt.”
“I’m the only one who can do this the right way.”
“I can’t do anything on my own.”
Usually, those voices and messages are born in childhood. We develop them to keep ourselves feeling safe, loved, and accepted in our homes, families, and friend circles growing up.
The messages we create serve us very well, to a point. It may truly have been the case that if you did not load the dishwasher the “right” way as a child, you received criticism, disapproval, or something more traumatic for the effort you put in.
So you created a voice and a value system that kept those unkind words or behaviors from happening to you as often. But those messages can outlast their usefulness the older we get, causing tons of:
- Stress and anxiety symptoms ( like gut issues, inflammation, high blood pressure and heart rate, or even tension and pain.)
- Exhaustion and hypervigilance
…and never letting you relax and enjoy the gifts in yourself and the good things you can create with your life.
I break down how to SEE and SHIFT these not-so-useful-anymore inner messages in my new book, You Are Not Broken.
The ONE thing you can do this week to start the process is…
Understand that every part of you that you may see as problematic has actually served you–by keeping you safe, secure, loved, and accepted in the best ways those parts know how to do.
Hypnotherapy is one tool that can help you rewire these out-moded inner messages, so you can start getting RELIEF. You can restore your innocence and give yourself what you might have missed out on all those years ago.
Be sure to order your copy of You Are Not Broken by clicking the title anywhere in this post, so you can make gentle, sustainable, meaningful upgrades to your Inner Voice–and therefore your whole life.
Bonus: During the next few months, I’ll be publishing a series of meditative processes inspired by and supportive of the book, You Are Not Broken.
